I just finished migrating the site to use Digital Ocean’s App Platform. Previously, the site was hosted on a Digital Ocean droplet. I made the switch because the App Platform is more convenient, cheaper, and simpler. Specifically:

  • App Platform builds and deploy automatically from GitHub when I push changes to main
  • App Platform is free for simple static sites, while the cheapest droplets cost ~$5/month
  • App Platform performs all infrastructure maintenance and upgrades for me
